Wicked just notched a huge milestone! The 2024 film adaptation of the Broadway musical is now officially the highest-grossing Broadway adaptation in global box office history, via Variety. After bringing in over $634 million worldwide in the past six months, the movie has overtaken 2008’s Mamma Mia to achieve the feat. Mamma Mia amassed $611 million (not adjusted for inflation) by the end of its box office run. The Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo-led film has brought in $424 million domestically and already surpassed 1978’s Grease ($188.62 million) as the biggest Broadway adaptation at the domestic box office.
