Will Ospreay was thrilled with his Assassin’s Creed entrance at AEW All In.
The English star paid tribute to the game series at Wembley Stadium on Sunday. He entered his match with MJF dressed as the protagonist from the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows game, with accompanying breakdancers and gymnasts.
This was not the first time he had worked with Ubisoft, doing a similar entrance at Wrestle Kingdom in Japan. He also named his finishing move, the “Hidden Blade” after a part of the game.
Will Ospreay spoke at the AEW All In Post-Show Media Scrum, where he was asked about his entrance. He revealed that his friend’s father helped him link up with Ubisoft to help promote the video game as part of his entrance for his match against MJF.
The Aerial Assassin noted that he was inspired by the game while training to be a wrestler. It helped him grow up, and was a direct influence on him to become the wrestler he is today.
“My mate’s father, sitting over there, he’s the ultimate link-up artist, mate, the ultimate link-up man. For Wrestle Kingdom, he managed to set up a collaboration with Ubisoft, like the Jack the Ripper one from Assassin’s Creed Syndicate. It did wonders for them on social media and promotion, even though the current game at that time was Mirage.”
“Then it got back to Ubisoft, and they were like, ‘Dude, we’ve got Shadows coming up,’ which is going to be set in Japan this time around. I spent eight years of my life growing up in Japan, and I can’t make this up—Assassin’s Creed was a big deal for me when I was growing up.”
“When I was training, they told me to attach myself to something that fans can connect with. I loved Assassin’s Creed, all my friends loved Assassin’s Creed, so I made it my gimmick—the Aerial Assassin. In a weird way, it paved the way for me to grow and do all this. When everything finally linked together, it was just the perfect scenario.”
Will Ospreay pitches Assassin’s Creed-game based around him
Will Ospreay wants to go one further again for his partnership with Ubisoft.
The AEW International Champion thanked the publisher for working with AEW for his iconic entrance. He then pitched the idea of making an Assassin’s Creed Will Ospreay figure.
He also came up with the idea of adding him to the game via DLC, or even making a Will Ospreay-based Assassin’s Creed video game.
“Honestly, thank you so much Ubisoft. Thank you Assassin’s Creed, and thanks to all the breakdancers and gymnasts who did the tricks for me as well. It created one of my favorite moments of my entire life. I’m a legit assassin now, man—I’m actually a part of the games! Do you know what I mean? “
“There isn’t a limit to this anymore. We could even do a toy, an action figure of the Assassin’s Creed stuff. Honestly, I’d love to be a downloadable character as well. There aren’t any limits anymore with this—maybe even my own game someday. Assassin’s Creed Billy!”
