Will Ospreay is one of the biggest signings AEW has ever made and he took it upon himself to fire shots at Triple H following The Game’s recent remarks. With that said, his involvement in the promo has now been revealed.
During a recent appearance on the Pat McAfee Show as a part of WWE World, Triple H addressed his mindset while hiring new talent in the company. The Game stated that numerous stars prefer other promotions against WWE for the lighter schedule they get working there.
“When I see people coming out of trying to make it, and then they pick a job where, well, they work less, the schedule is lighter, then I’m like, ‘I’m glad I didn’t pick you.’ If you’re not in it for the grind, at that point early in your career, you have no business being here.”
As seen on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Will Ospreay would directly respond to Triple H’s comments and took quite a few personal shots at The Game for good measure.
“There’s this rumor going around, right? There’s this rumor that I’m afraid of the grind. I’ll be honest with you, I have no idea where this conversation has come from because I’m one of the only guys that are traveling every single week to the UK and America, 8, 10 hour flights every single week. I am delivering some of the best professional wrestling matches this world has ever seen, bruv. Normally, I wouldn’t rise to this type of bait but seeing as the guy that said it is only in the position he’s in because he was grinding on the boss’s daughter, you are in no position to tell me what the grind is all about my friend because you have no idea what I fight for. Let this be a painful jab back and a gentle reminder that you do not throw stones at an assassin with a machine gun.”
According to Wade Keller at PWTorch.com, it was noted that Will Ospreay had no involvement in the promo as such as it was not his idea at all.
”They also had Will Ospreay go on camera, interviewed by Renee Paquette on the stage. The first part of his promo was him addressing a comment that Triple H said on the podcast [that was] alluding to Will Ospreay being someone who didn’t want to be part of the grind.”
”I’m also told that this was an idea presented to Ospreay,” Keller said. “I don’t know about Ospreay’s enthusiasm for or against it but it wasn’t something he did on his own. He didn’t wing it. It was something that hours before the interview took place, was proposed to him. That’s what I’m hearing from AEW.”
Nevertheless, Will Ospreay is set to square off against Bryan Danielson at the AEW Dynasty pay-per-view on April 21st, so we will have to wait and see how the match will turn out.
