Kenny Omega returned to AEW Dynamite, and he stared down one of his biggest foes.

Omega came to the ring at the end of the January 8th episode of AEW Dynamite and reflected on his battle with diverticulitis, which had sidelined him for over a year. He noted that he had lost two feet of his intestines, and he had been working hard to get back to the ring.

Omega said that the doctor told him that he’d be lucky if he could return to his normal way of life, let alone return to the ring. He said that he had to go back to the hospital multiple times, and he asked himself if coming back was worth it. Omega said that he wondered what purpose he had on the planet if he didn’t have the fans.

He brought up his match at NJPW x AEW Wrestle Dynasty, and he said that if he wasn’t in the ring every week, then he wasn’t living. Omega said that while he might not be the same guy, and he might not be able to do what he used to do, this version of Kenny Omega could still prove himself.

Don Callis Family Targets Kenny Omega

Don Calis interrupted Omega, and the former world champion attacked him. Brian Cage and Lance Archer blindsided Omega, and Kyle Fletcher joined the fight.

The trio ganged up on Omega, but Will Ospreay made the save. Omega and Ospreay stared each other down as the show came to an end.

Prior to his appearance, Omega had been absent from AEW Dynamite since his one-off return in May. He then appeared at AEW Worlds End in December. There, he presented Kazuchika Okada with the AEW Continental Championship. Outside of AEW, he appeared at NJPW Power Struggle before he competed at NJPW x AEW Dynasty.
