The third season of Heartstopper has only just premiered, but fans are already wondering if a fourth season is in the cards! The Netflix show’s third season arrived on October 3, bringing new adventures for Nick Nelson (Kit Connor), Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) and the rest of their pals. After a mega-successful first season, Netflix guaranteed that we’d get a second and third season back in 2022. Now that Season 3 is here, the fate of the show is up in the air. While nothing is official yet, there is at least one key person cheering for a return. Keep reading to find out more… If you were unaware, Heartstopper is based on Alice Oseman‘s graphic novel series. So far, she’s written five volumes, and a sixth and final book is in the works. The third season of the show covered up to the fifth book, meaning that a fourth season is not possible until the sixth book is complete. How’s that coming along? “I’m only 50 pages in, but I know what’s going to happen, what all the dialogue is going to be, and now I’m just sitting down and drawing it, which is my favourite bit,” Alice recently told The Guardian. “I’m really excited about what’s going to happen towards the end of the story, but it’s also very bittersweet. I also feel it’s absolutely the right time for it to end. It’s very sad, but it’s time.” Alice is cheering for a fourth and final season of the show. She expressed interest in the idea in an update on Patreon. “I am very much hoping that there will be a fourth season, so the show gets to have a proper ending! I’m praying to the gods! Begging on my knees! Having nightmares about it regularly, etc,” she wrote. She told fans that if it happens, she’ll likely work on the script for the season as she finished the book. By the sounds of it, there would be a bit of a wait. Alice said that she was “trying to schedule [her] life for the next two years” and added that the novel would come before the show. If you missed it, Kit opened up about filming steamy scenes with Joe for the third season.
