Willow Nightingale says she needed a win, and she walked out as a champion.

At NJPW x CMLL FantasticaMania USA, AEW’s Willow Nightingale won a Triple Threat match for the CMLL World Women’s Championship. The title was vacated on July 10 after reigning champion Stephanie Vaquer left CMLL.

In her post-match comments, Willow Nightingale shared her thoughts on her win.

“Last time I wrestled in CMLL, it was actually also my first weekend in CMLL, but you want to know what happened when I showed up? I freaking won,” Willow Nightingale said. “I beat the current CMLL Women’s Champion at that point, Stephanie Vaquer. Stephanie’s not here, championship’s vacant. Who’s gonna step up? No one else other than Willow Nightingale, duh.

“Man, we’re here in San Jose. Your girl’s tired. You know, my spirit was actually a little broken coming in here. AEW, my friend turned on me. I just lost my last match. I really needed a win, and today, I didn’t just get a win, I walked out an international champion.”
