2023 Owen Hart Foundation Tournament winner Willow Nightingale aims to repeat in 2024. Win or lose, she will help AEW continue to honor Hart’s legacy.
Speaking with Iridian Fierro on 720 WGN Radio, Willow Nightingale discussed competing in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament. She highlighted how she saw herself as a good fit due to her pure heart and reverence for wrestling.
“Me, when I think about Owen Hart or the Hart legacy in general, I really think of solid, amazing, technical wrestling,” Willow Nightingale said. “I’m not saying I’m not a great wrestler, but the technical holds kind of thing isn’t really my strong suit. So I was like, ‘Okay, where do I find the spirit of Owen Hart to guide me through this?’
“But having that pure heart, the love, respect, and reverence for professional wrestling is really where I saw myself being a good fit. When I won, of course it’s an honor, you feel all this gratitude. You’re like, ‘I worked so hard to get here.’ But I was able to kind of see how I could fit as part of us honoring him. It’s like through my spirit and who I am as a person, helps honor Owen and his legacy.”
Willow Nightingale will clash with Kris Statlander in a semi-final match in the tournament on the July 3 episode of AEW Dynamite.
