EXCLUSIVE: Steven Bartlett, host of The Diary Of A CEO podcast and star of the UK version of Shark Tank, has signed with WME for global representation.

The deal has been agreed after Bartlett has been courting U.S. agents since last year. He hopes to be able to expand The Diary Of A CEO and his personal brand in America.

Dividing his time between LA, New York and London, his podcast has reached 1 billion streams across Apple, Spotify, and YouTube, according to his company Flight Studio.

Bartlett, who also features as an investor on BBC series Dragons’ Den, launched Diary Of A CEO in 2017 and has interviewed the likes of Simon Cowell, Jada Pinkett Smith, Boris Johnson, Seth Rogen, Maisie Williams, Thierry Henry, and Richard Branson.

It has not all been smooth sailing for the presenter, however. A BBC News investigation last month accused Bartlett of amplifying harmful health misinformation, including about cancer treatments, on Diary Of A CEO. Flight Studio said guests were offered “freedom of expression” and were “thoroughly researched.”

Commenting on the WME deal, Bartlett said: “In the last two years, the U.S. has become our largest global audience, and this partnership with WME feels like the right step at this time to better serve our listeners and to continue building on that progress.”

WME has made inroads into UK podcasting in recent years. The agency signed Goalhanger Podcasts, the Gary Lineker-backed producer behind The Rest Is History, The Rest Is Politics, and The Rest Is Entertainment. WME also signed Persephonica, which makes Political Currency and other shows.
