WNBA’s growing popularity, fueled by unprecedented interest in top rookies Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese, has set another high benchmark.

The 2024 WNBA All-Star Game on July 20 has averaged 3.442 million viewers on ABC. That is the largest audience ever for an WNBA All-Star game, topping the previous high of 1.441M who watched the 2003 game on the broadcast network by a whopping 139%.

It was the largest WNBA audience ever — regular season, playoffs, draft, etc. — on ESPN Networks, surpassing the audience for the 2024 WNBA Draft – also buoyed by the star power of Clark and Reese — which delivered 2.45 million viewers. The game was the third most-viewed WNBA event ever and the largest WNBA audience since the league’s first two nationally televised games in 1997.

Saturday’s broadcast of the WNBA All-Star Game, a 117-109 Team WNBA victory over the U.S.A. Basketball Women’s National Team in Phoenix was up 305% in viewership from last year. The audience for the game peaked from 10:30 – 10:43 PM ET with 4,054,000 viewers.
