Wolves have halted their bid to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja, according to reports.

The 22-year-old was sidelined for six months after suffering an ACL injury in December 2022 and eventually made his return for Chelsea in September.
Broja has scored two goals in 18 appearances this season and faces competition for a regular starting role alongside Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku, who could return from injury for Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Liverpool next Wednesday.
According to MailOnline, Wolves had lined up a loan offer for Broja which included a compulsory purchase option for £30 million.
However, Wolves have now been forced to reconsider their plans due to financial concerns.
It’s understood that Chelsea were initially demanding a £50m fee for the Albania international.
Speaking on Thursday, Wolves manager Gary O’Neil admitted his side have been forced to alter their transfer plans with less than a week of the transfer window remaining.
‘We had been working on a couple of options but it looks like they won’t be doable financially so it’s back to other options,’ O’Neil said.
‘It’s disappointing as we felt we were making headway but it looks like it’s not doable.
‘I won’t just sign a player for the sake of it. We need to take people who deserve the chance to play for us and are good enough. January is tricky.
‘Prices are inflated and people don’t want to lose good players.’
Asked about Broja’s situation at Chelsea, Mauricio Pochettino said earlier this week: ‘We cannot update in any way. It’s all so quiet and I think that’s a good thing because we are working well.
‘No update. No news about players that can come in.’
