Wolves having reportedly told Arsenal and Tottenham how much they must pay to sign top target Pedro Neto – and he won’t come cheap.
Neto has been on Arsenal’s radar for several years now having established himself as one of the Premier League’s most promising young wingers.
So far this season, he has already scored three goals and made 10 assists in 18 games across all competitions.
Eight of those assists have been in the Premier League – only Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins have more (10).
As such, he is one of the Gunners’ top targets as they look for a player who can provide competition and cover for Bukayo Saka, but Neto’s form has also caught the eye of Tottenham as they continue their Ange Postecoglou revolution.
Up to this point, Wolves have been reluctant to sell their talisman, especially as they’ve been battling relegation, but that could be about to change.
TalkSPORT report that Gary O’Neil’s side need to offload several players this summer in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.
The club are just about to break even on the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, while O’Neil wants funds to sign a much needed striker and a defender.
As such, their most prized asset Neto is likely to be sold, but that’s where the good news ends for Arsenal and Spurs, as Wolves will only let the 23-year-old go for a club-record fee.
That means any potential buyer will have to pay more than the £53million Manchester City spent on Matheus Nunes last summer.
Portuguese international Neto has a contract until 2027, so Wolves will feel little pressure to lower that asking price.
Tottenham will have the chance to scout Neto first-hand on Saturday when they host Wolves in their next league game.
