The top-flight teams are involved in one of only two all-Premier League FA Cup third round replays having played out a 1-1 draw in their initial encounter.

Gary O'Neil's side came from a man down and then a goal down before a Tommy Doyle screamer earned the club a replay.

Neither side have played since their draw in west London, due to the Premier League's hybrid winter break.

However, both teams know a clash with West Bromwich Albion awaits the victors in round four.

Wolves vs Brentford: Can Toney play?

No, Toney is still serving his eight-month ban for breaching betting rules for the Bee's trip to Wolves.

Toney's ban expires on Wednesday, January 17 - the day after Brentford's second attempt at reaching the FA Cup fourth round.

Unfortunately for the forward, had the game been rescheduled to take place as Everton v Crystal Palace, or Blackpool v Nottingham Forest then he would have been able to feature.

Instead, Toney will have to wait for Brentford's home clash with Nottingham Forest on Saturday, January 20.

The England star has not featured since a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool on May 6 and is eagerly anticipating his first appearance of the season.

Toney stunned last season, and would likely cost a fortune in January Brentford have progressed from their last two FA Cup third round replays, with these coming in 1988-89 (v Walsall) and 2012-13 (v Southend). Brentford have progressed from just one of their last 16 FA Cup ties against top-flight opponents, beating Sunderland 2-1 as a League One side in 2005-06. They lost 1-0 at home to West Ham at this stage last season.

Wolves vs Brentford: What has been said?

Bees boss Frank has given a fresh update on Toney's future and offered fans a near-guarantee that he would be sticking around.

He said: “It’s been very clear that we don’t want to let him go and want to keep him as long as possible.

“It’s like signing a top Premier League striker…everyone should get excited.

“I’m 99 per cent certain he will stay but in football, you never know.”

Brentford have lost four of their last six away games against Wolves in all competitions, winning the other two. Wolves played 81 minutes of their original FA Cup third round game against Brentford with 10-men, scoring with their only shot on target in the match.
