Woman injures 10-year-old ward with blade in Ogun for stealing N600

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a woman, Odeale Fatimah, for allegedly using a blade to inflict deep cuts on her 10-year-old ward in the Obada-Oko area of Ogun State. Injuries inflicted with razor blade on the 10-year-old boy

PUNCH Metro gathered that the suspect allegedly tortured the 10-year-old boy identified as Olasunkanmi Oluwadamilare after accusing him of stealing N600 to buy ice cream for friends and as a form of discipline, the suspect used a razor blade to inflict deep cuts on the back of the boy’s hand, leaving him severely injured.

The spokesperson of the state police command, Superintendent of Police, Omolola Odutola, disclosed this in a statement sent to our correspondent on Monday.

She revealed that the case was reported by the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools Obada Oko unit led by one Olagbegi Moses, the unit coordinator.

“On January 13, 2025, the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools Obada Oko unit, led by one Olagbegi Moses, the unit coordinator, came to the station with the victim, aged 10-year-old, a student of Dinamis private school Araromi area Obada Oko with deep cuts in his hands.”

“Upon interrogation, Olasunkanmi stated that his guardian, Odeale Fatimah, of housing area Obada Oko, inflicted the injuries on him,” she stated.

Odutola revealed that after Fatimah was arrested, she confessed to the crime, stating that she did it because the victim stole N600 from her.

“Fatimah was arrested, and she confirmed inflicting the injury with a razor blade, stating an excuse that she did that because Olasunkanmi stole six hundred naira to buy ice cream for his friends.”

“Investigation is currently in progress. More information will be disclosed,” she stated.

PUNCH Metro reported on Sunday that a motorcyclist, identified as Ahmed Owolabi, narrowly escaped death after his passenger, Sherif Oyeniyi, inflicted deep razor blade cuts on his neck while they were in motion in Arepo, Ogun State.
