Manchester United are doing their utmost to bring Alphonso Davies to the club amidst stern competition from reigning European champions Real Madrid.
The ‘world-class’ 24-year-old is currently mulling over whether to pull the curtains on his Bayern Munich career after seven years, with the Germans trying everything in their power to keep him at the Allianz beyond his contract expiry next June.
His terms coming to an end has prompted the interest of a host of top European clubs, with United and Madrid seemingly spearheading the race to try and get an agreement over the line as swiftly as possible. Davies is free to talk to foreign clubs in January, but if Bayern grow resigned to the fact that he isn’t signing a new deal, they may look to offload him in the winter to guarantee they’ll recuperate a fee from his exit.

Meanwhile, his agent is attempting to ‘make the most of the situation’, which could loosely translate to sounding out which club is offering the most lucrative pay packet for his client.
Davies is an integral starter for the Bavarian outfit and will expect to retain such a role should he complete a move away. For Carlo Ancelotti, Ferland Mendy has established himself as the first-choice at left-back, while Ruben Amorim is currently awaiting the returns of sidelined duo Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
That being said, Malacia perhaps isn’t high quality enough to hold down a place in the XI long-term. As for Shaw, 29, he simply cannot be relied on to make it through a whole season without sustaining numerous lengthy injury setbacks.
