WRESTLING RUMORS: Major Opponent Planned For John Cena’s Retirement Tour Next Year

That’s a big one. There are certain names in wrestling who become big deals and remain that way throughout their careers. Even if their time in the ring is starting to come to a close, there is a certain excitement to anything that they are doing. We will be seeing something like that in the coming year, and now we have a better idea of what to expect when we get there.

Last Month at WWE Money In The Bank, John Cena announced that 2025 would be his last year as an active wrestler. Cena did not announce an official retirement date, but he did say that he would be wrestling several times throughout the year. According to WRKD Wrestling, a match between Cena and Gunther is penciled in as a “marquee PLE match”. It is not clear when the match would take place.

Opinion: This isn’t the biggest surprise and it is a match that could go rather well if everything comes together. At the end of the day, Cena’s retirement our is going to be designed to make other people look good while giving Cena some nice moments on the way out. A match against Gunther would certainly fit that bill and we could be in for something rather fun if it goes as expected.
