The Royal Rumble go-home of Friday Night SmackDown began with acknowledging the fact that their former commentator, Kevin Patrick was let go from the company and would not continue in his role indirectly.

His role was assumed by veteran WWE announcer Michael Cole, who was slated to call the action alongside color commentator Corey Graves. The opening of the show began with the Voice of WWE clarifying that his appearance was just a one-off, as he currently serves as the play-by-play announcer for WWE’s flagship show, Monday Night RAW.

Speaking about replacing Kevin Patrick, it can be assumed that commentators such as NXT Level Up’s Blake Howard or NXT’s Vic Joseph could be called -up to the blue brand.

Moreover, WWE in the phase of a major resurgence, could bring in a totally new person to take the headset on SmackDown.

As far as Kevin Patrick was concerned, he was recently released despite being liked within the company. However, it was described that he was just not the right person for the job.

Who do you think can be the new voice of SmackDown? Sound off in the comments!
