WWE is truly the global juggernaut of professional wrestling and they are always ready to make strides in the business one way or the other, which is why it’s no surprise WWE has now announced an exciting new indie wrestling development program.

WWE has started a new program called WWE ID (WWE Independent Development™) to help independent wrestling schools and talent. This program aims to support aspiring wrestlers who want to pursue careers in WWE. Some of the first schools to receive the WWE ID designation are Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling, Cody Rhodes’ Nightmare Factory, and Seth Rollins’ Black and Brave Academy.

“WWE has launched @WWEID, a first-of-its-kind developmental program designed to provide up-and-coming independent wrestlers a pathway to a potential career in WWE”

WWE’s Chief Content Officer Triple H stated that WWE ID is part of their efforts to help new wrestlers and strengthen the independent wrestling community. Following the launch of WWE’s NIL program in 2021, WWE ID will provide training, development, and mentorship to independent wrestling students and schools.

The program will recognize selected independent wrestling schools, giving new and existing trainees better opportunities. The first schools to receive this designation include Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling in Houston, Cody Rhodes’ Nightmare Factory in Atlanta, Seth Rollins’ Black and Brave Academy in Davenport, Iowa, Elite Pro Wrestling Training Center in Concord, New Hampshire, and KnokX Pro Academy in Los Angeles.

WWE ID will also identify promising independent wrestlers and give them official “prospect” status. This includes financial support, training, mentorship, and access to top facilities and trainers. Fans will be able to follow these talented prospects through exclusive behind-the-scenes content and match highlights shared on WWE’s social media platforms. Therefore, we’ll have to wait and see just how much this new program will end up benefiting the independent circuit in the end as it’s clear the company has lots of long-term plans for the company when it comes to expanding their horizons.

With WWE ID now underway, do you think it will change the way indie wrestlers make it to WWE? Could we see more indie talent becoming WWE legends? Let us know your thoughts on WWE ID and how it might shape the future of wrestling!
