WWE Hall of Famer Donald Trump has been found guilty.
Former President of the United States Donald Trump has been found guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in a hush money trial by a New York jury. Trump has become the first former United States president to be convicted of a felony. However, he is likely to appeal. As of this writing, his sentencing is set for 10 a.m. ET on July 11.
The conviction was linked to a $130,000 payment Trump made to Stormy Daniels. Trump was accused of paying Daniels to keep her quiet about an alleged sexual encounter ahead of the 2016 election. The jury found Trump guilty of illegally falsifying business records as he had been accused of misrepresenting payments to his lawyer, Michael Cohen, which were reimbursements for the hush money payments.
Trump denied all wrongdoing, both regarding the alleged encounter with Daniels and the hush money payments, and he pleaded not guilty.
Falsifying business records is a felony in New York state. Trump could potentially face up to four years in prison and a $5,000 fine for each count.
Donald Trump has appeared on WWE programming multiple times over the years. He was featured in the Battle of the Billionaires at WrestleMania 23, where he was in Bobby Lashley’s corner for his match against Umaga, who was cornered by Vince McMahon. Trump was inducted into the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013.
