WWE has launched a new program designed to give up-and-coming independent talent a potential path to becoming a WWE Superstar.
On Tuesday, WWE announced the creation of WWE Independent Development (WWE ID), a new developmental program that will aid independent wrestling schools and talent in finding potential WWE Superstars. The program will support indie prospects and WWE ID-designated schools with “world-class training, development and mentorship.”
“WWE ID is the latest in our efforts to identify and support the journey of up-and-coming wrestlers, in turn raising the profile of and strengthening the independent wrestling ecosystem,” said WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque.
WWE announced multiple schools that will have the WWE ID designation. The first schools listed are: Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling (Houston), Cody Rhodes’ Nightmare Factory (Atlanta), Seth Rollins’ Black and Brave Academy (Davenport, Iowa), Elite Pro Wrestling Training Center (Concord, N.H.) and KnokX Pro Academy (Los Angeles).
In addition, WWE ID will designate top indie talent with a WWE ID “prospect” tag and support their developmental training by providing financial and training opportunities. This includes assisting with training and mentorship, and access to world-class facilities and trainers. Fans can follow along WWE ID talent’s journeys through curated behind-the-scenes content, highlights and matches on WWE social platforms.
