WWE is the global juggernaut of professional wrestling and has seen tons of development in the past few years when it comes to expanding in various markets. In fact, WWE is looking to have a stronger presence in Mexico as well.
WWE already has an ongoing partnership with TNA Wrestling and that’s not all, as they recently secured another working relationship with Pro Wrestling NOAH, which will see AJ Styles compete at NOAH’s Destination, but that doesn’t mean WWE won’t expand their partnerships elsewhere as well.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is showing significant interest in establishing a stronger presence in Mexico. Although this initiative has not yet materialized, one potential idea involves collaborating with UFC, which operates its Performance Institute in Mexico City.
The plan would be to develop Mexican fighters and potentially expand this initiative to include professional wrestlers. This approach aims to attract aspiring wrestlers who may consider training at CMLL or other schools, providing them with a direct path into WWE without the need to spend extensive time in Mexico or establish themselves on the independent circuit in the United States.
We also reported that WWE is interested in creating alliances with Mexican and Puerto Rican promotions. In fact, WWE has live events scheduled for July 13 and July 14 in Mexico City and Monterrey, so they are clearly working towards that goal in mind.
