A recent trademark issue over the Santino Marella name could hurt the ongoing relationship between WWE and TNA Wrestling.
Back in December 2022, Anthem Wrestling Exhibitions LLC filed to trademark Santino Marella after WWE let their trademark on the name lapse. This was something that at the time WWE didn’t appear to have an issue with, but seemingly something has changed.
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, WWE requested a 90-day extension to oppose Anthem’s trademark of the Santino Marella name on September 19.
Marella nor TNA have publicly commented on the situation at this time.
With everything that’s happened between WWE and TNA Wrestling this year and the benefits that have come to the NXT brand because of it, we can’t help but feel it would be in WWE’s best interest to just let this one go.
Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information on the status of the Santino Marella trademark as it becomes available.
