Hulk Hogan has always known how to grab attention, whether it’s positive or negative. During his appearance on WWE RAW’s Netflix debut on January 6, fans showered him with tons of deafening boos. Interestingly enough, it appears that WWE is reportedly planning for Hogan to embrace the negative reaction by turning heel the next time he appears on television.

According to a report by Daily Mail, WWE takes fan reactions seriously when creating storylines. While they may have a planned direction, they are willing to adjust if the crowd’s response is different from what they expected.

There have been discussions about making Hulk Hogan a heel the next time he appears on television, as his previous heel turn was highly successful for his career. It was noted that WWE might follow a similar strategy to what they did with The Rock last year. Initially presented as a hero, The Rock faced negative reactions from fans, so he embraced being a bad guy, which ultimately improved his popularity.

‘Those in the back have listened to the fans as they do with most of their storylines,’ the source continued. ‘They listen to the audience and if they have a direction they want to go with something, they will attempt that first but if the crowd reaction is so different, they will make sure to steer it the way the tide is going.

There has already been discussion that the next time they put Hogan on TV is to make him a heel or a bad guy, because the last time he was a bad guy, it worked wonders for his career.

They might base it toward what they had to do with The Rock last year. The last few times The Rock came back, they made him the hero and the fans hated it. The Rock leaned into being bad, they changed direction and now after last night, the fans like The Rock again.”

The plan for Hulk Hogan is to lean into the boos if he gets them again, and fully commit to the role of a heel. This heel turn would also tie into a future storyline with another wrestler, giving Hogan a substantial role while aligning with fan expectations.

“So by giving the fans what they want, you get what you want, and for them that is the adulation. Hogan and some of the writers have since talked and whenever Hogan comes back, if he were to be booed, they are going to expect it and lean into it 100%.

Plans are for Hogan to be a bad guy again and to help out a future storyline with another wrestler.”

Earlier reports suggested Hulk Hogan might be making fewer appearances on television moving forward following the negative reactions he received on RAW, but it’s clear they have a big plan for Hogan if he does get booed again during his next appearance.

If the boos continue, fans might see the return of the villainous Hulk Hogan, a character that defined his career during the nWo era. Only time will tell if this direction becomes a reality.

Do you think Hulk Hogan embracing a heel role is the right move for WWE? or should they just not use him at all? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
