The wrestling world has experienced a major shift in tide in the last 72 hours, with Cody Rhodes at the helm of things. But Monday Night RAW was the icing on the cake in regards to fans making it clear what they felt about The Rock’s involvement in the WrestleMania 40 plans.
The night opened with a confrontation between World Heavyweight champion Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes. The Drip God acknowledged the events in the last three days and asked Rhodes for an answer in regards to the WrestleMania challenge laid out.
Moreover, he stood by his words from last week that Cody should pick him for a world title match at The Show of Shows. Amidst the segment, it was 1996 all over as the fans began to chant “Rocky sucks.”
This was the first time in a long time that the people turned on their People’s Champion, reminded of the time when The Rock made his WWE debut. At the time, he was Rocky Maivia, a character that the fans were not behind and believed was a corporately created entity that did not seem appealing.
With the ‘We Want Cody’ movement in full force on RAW tonight, WWE surely has a lot of reconsideration to do in regards to the main event for WrestleMania 40.
