Shad Gaspard tragically lost his life in May of 2020 when he sacrificed himself to save his son. More than three years since his tragic passing, WWE remembers Shad Gaspard on his birthday today.
Gaspard was discovered on the shoreline at Venice Beach, California, having been caught in a powerful rip current. While swimming with his son, both were swept away by strong waves. In a heroic effort, Shad Gaspard pushed his son towards the lifeguard before being submerged under wave himself. Tragically, he did not resurface after the incident.
WWE took to Twitter and remembered Shad Gaspard on his birthday today, on January 13th. Fans flocked to the comments and paid their respects to the fallen WWE veteran for his heroic actions.

Gaspard was awarded the ‘Warrior Award’ at the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony back in 2022 Shad’s wife Siliana was accompanied to the ring by his former tag team partner JTG and her son to collect the award on her husband’s behalf.
Shad Gaspard will be forever remembered for his courage and self-sacrifice to save his son. Fans and peers will always hold immense respect for Gaspard for his actions in the end.
