WWE is a major force in professional wrestling and is always looking to expand its business. That’s why it’s exciting that WWE has announced a new program to develop independent wrestling and now the long-term plans for this program have also been revealed.
As reported earlier, WWE has started a new program called WWE ID (WWE Independent Development™) to help independent wrestling schools and wrestlers. The goal of this program is to support aspiring wrestlers who want to have careers in WWE. Some of the first schools to get the WWE ID designation are Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling, Cody Rhodes’ Nightmare Factory, and Seth Rollins’ Black and Brave Academy.
According to a report by PWInsider, the long-term plans for the program will be about WWE helping aspiring wrestlers eventually sign contracts with the company. WWE has been working on this program for years. Gabe Sapolsky, who used to work for ROH and EVOLVE and now works for WWE, will help oversee it. He has been scouting talent at different schools and independent events.
By partnering with these schools, WWE can guide potential wrestlers to places where they can train properly and get ready for WWE tryouts. This program will also help current developmental wrestlers learn from different coaches and gain more experience.
WWE representatives will visit these schools to offer advice and help improve their training programs. This will ensure the schools align with WWE’s standards for talent. The goal is to make these schools good training spots for beginners and independent wrestlers looking to improve.
This program is part of WWE’s plan to continuously develop talent from the start, giving them environments where they can succeed. Although some fans have asked about joint events with these schools, there are currently no plans for live shows or tours. The main focus is on improving WWE’s recruitment and training efforts.
We’ll have to wait and see how much this new program will help the independent wrestling scene. It’s clear that WWE has big plans for the future and is looking to expand its reach as this might change the course of the business in a huge way.
