WWE’s innovative Independent Development program has officially welcomed its first signee,
Zayda Steel, marking an exciting start to this new initiative. Launched to create a clear pathway for independent wrestlers and wrestling schools to transition into WWE contracts, WWE ID has already gained significant momentum.
WWE ID’s official Twitter account announced Zayda Steel’s signing, highlighting that she was scouted from the renowned Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW). Steel, a standout on the indie scene and hailing from Washington D.C., brings her talent and experience to the forefront as the inaugural talent signed under the new program. The announcement reads:
“#WWEID welcomes @ZaydaSteel Scouted From: Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) Hometown: Washington D.C.”
Steel has an impressive résumé, having previously been part of Marigold’s early shows and exiting the promotion around the same time as NXT star Giulia. Steel’s departure from Marigold confirmed that she was not tied to Rossy Ogawa’s company, making her available for WWE’s groundbreaking program.
The WWE ID initiative has teased that 20 independent wrestlers have already been contracted, with more signings to be unveiled soon. Fans won’t have to wait long for more updates, as WWE ID hinted at another announcement coming during the Reality of Wrestling show this Sunday.
The debut of Zayda Steel in WWE’s developmental ranks is just the beginning of what promises to be a vibrant and diverse roster brought in through WWE ID. This program is set to revolutionize how the company integrates independent talent into its system, blending grassroots wrestling experience with WWE’s production power.
