WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event is coming back to NBC.
Variety confirmed WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event will return on December 14. The event will take place at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island, New York. The venue was also the site of the first-ever “Saturday Night’s Main Event” in 1985.
The event is the first of four quarterly WWE primetime specials for NBC, part of the new five-year media rights deal with NBCUniversal, including SmackDown’s move back to USA Network.
A presale for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event starts on September 19 at 10 a.m. ET. Fans can also register to receive an exclusive presale opportunity by visiting WWE’s website. Tickets will go on sale to the public on September 20 at 10 a.m. ET via Ticketmaster. Priority Passes are also available now through WWE’s partnership with On Location.
WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event history
This is the third run of “Saturday Night’s Main Event” events. The series launched as a late-night replacement on NBC for the weeks that “Saturday Night Live” did not air new episodes. The original run consisted of 29 episodes for NBC between 1985 and 1991, and two more episodes on FOX in 1992.
WWE and NBC also revived the series for five episodes that aired between 2006 and 2008.
