WWE signed Brayden Ray to a contract.

The Duke University wrestler appeared on the “WWE: Next Gen” series on Roku. John Cena produced the program, and premiered during the week of the historic WrestleMania XL event.

The six-foot tall, 197 lb wrestler from California has wrestled for Duke University for the past three years, with his record impressing enough to get WWE to sign him as part of their Next Gen series.

He clearly impressed again, as the college wrestler announced that he signed a WWE contract. He becomes the second Next-Gen wrestler to sign for the company this week, after Julian Baldi.

Brayden Ray announced the deal with a Twitter post. He simply tweeted, “It’s official”, while tagging both WWE and NXT in the post. He also posted a photo of him in a WWE shirt.

“It’s official @WWE @WWENXT

Brayden Ray is expected to report to the WWE Performance Centre for training. There is no timeline for his in-ring debut, as he will likely have to learn professional wrestling from the ground up.

Unlike Julian Baldi, he has yet to compete in the ring. His fellow WWE: Next Gen star already made his WWE debut, and looks to be thought of highly in the WWE locker room.

He recently wrestled at an NXT Live Event on April 13th, alongside some regular NXT stars.

He fought against Joe Gacy, Dion Lennox, & Drake Morreaux at a house show in Venice, Florida. The fact Julian Baldi is already wrestling alongside more established talent shows that Shawn Michaels has faith in him to succeed.
