WWE SmackDown reportedly saw an increase in preliminary viewership on August 9.

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, WWE is reporting that SmackDown averaged 2.44 million viewers on Friday. The 18 to 49 demographic demographic is announced as 811,000 viewers. The viewership is up from last week’s episode when an average of 2.179 million viewers tuned in. The demo from last week‘s episode drew a 0.60 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic.

While WWE is reporting these numbers, several FOX channels broadcasted NFL preseason football games instead of SmackDown on Friday night. So these numbers might not turn out to be entirely accurate.

WWE says last night's episode of Smackdown drew 2.44M viewers for Roman Reigns' return. If true, it's the highest since April

Elsewhere on the show, DIY and the Street Profits won WWE Tag Team Title contender qualifying matches. They will face each other next week to determine the next challengers for The Bloodline’s titles.
