WWE SmackDown Viewership Decreases On 1/17, Demo Rises

WWE SmackDown saw a decrease in viewership on January 17.

According to Programming Insider, SmackDown averaged 1.403 million viewers on Friday. The show drew a 0.42 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic. The viewership is down from last week’s episode when an average of 1.436 million viewers tuned in. The demo rating rose from last week’s show (0.40 rating in the same demographic).

What happened on WWE SmackDown this week?

This week’s show kicked off with a promo from Rey Mysterio who declared for the Men’s Royal Rumble match. Kevin Owens came out and asked him to pick him to face at WrestleMania but got upset when Mysterio reminded him he was not the champion, a match was set for later in the show.

Kevin Owens would go on to defeat Rey Mysterio in singles action. KO would try to hit Mysterio with a package piledriver after the match but was stopped by Cody Rhodes.

Elsewhere on the show, WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Bayley and Naomi defeated the team of Nia Jax and Candice LeRae.

In the main event of the evening, Tiffany Stratton defeated Bayley to retain the WWE Women’s Championship.
