The announcement of his departure had already been made official a few days ago. Xavi will no longer be the coach of FC Barcelona next season, although he had one year left on his contract. We had to find common ground to part ways amicably, which is now done. The way is clear for Hansi Flick.

“FC Barcelona and Xavi Hernández have reached an agreement to terminate the contract of the coach and his staff that they had with the club until the end of the 2024/25 season” indicates the Blaugrana press release. According to the Catalan press, the former midfielder would have given up on his compensation, preferring that the money be reserved for his technical staff, simply demanding the reimbursement of €2.5 million that he had had to advance for free himself from Al-Sadd, his last club.
