Earlier this month, Xavi Hernandez bid goodbye to FC Barcelona, bringing an end to his managerial stint on a disappointing note following a trophyless campaign.

The manner in which his exit from the club was handled was far from graceful. Xavi had already announced his decision to leave midway through the season but Joan Laporta & co. convinced him to continue, only to sack him later.

Earlier this week, the Barça president explained his decision to sack Xavi, saying that multiple factors played a role in it, such as the club legend’s lack of faith in the squad and the team’s inadequate physical levels.

Xavi upset with Laporta’s comments

Now, as per SPORT, Xavi Hernandez has been ‘displeased’ by the comments made by Joan Laporta.

Xavi made his first public appearance since leaving Barcelona when he travelled to Ibiza to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Spanish national team’s triumph at the U-20 World Cup in Nigeria earlier today.

However, he will not be responding to any of the statements made by Laporta even though he has been upset by what the Barça president said earlier this week during his interview on Barça One.

Indeed, the former Barça coach will not make any statements and has imposed the law of silence on himself for a long period of time. In fact, the press conference that he used to give at the event has been cancelled.

Xavi took the reins of the Barcelona first team in November 2021. In his second season, he won the Spanish Super Cup and La Liga, but he finished the latest season without any silverware, leading to his departure.

Hansi Flick, the former Bayern Munich and Germany head coach, has replaced Xavi as the new Barcelona manager.
