It has been a torrid start to life as an FC Barcelona player for Vitor Roque since arriving at the club in the winter.

The 19-year-old was roped in from Athletico Paranaense midway through the campaign after his signing was agreed on last summer itself in a €61 million deal (including add-ons).

The teenager has hardly been counted upon by manager Xavi Hernandez, leading to serious speculations over his future beyond this season.

In fact, Roque’s agent, Andre Cury, recently lashed out at Xavi and hinted that they would seek a permanent exit over a loan move if the situation does not change.

Xavi not won over by Roque

Now, according to The Daily Briefing, Xavi has not entirely been convinced by Roque since the youngster arrived at Barcelona.

Indeed, the manager does not see the young striker as a strong option either to start or even feature as a substitute.

So, it does not come as a surprise that Xavi has often turned to other players like Ferran Torres and Marc Guiu ahead of the Brazilian international when he is looking for goals or rest Robert Lewandowski.

What next for Roque?

Following the statements made by his agent, Barcelona have asked Vitor Roque to stay calm. The idea of the club is to find a solution for the Brazilian teenager at the end of the season.

Even though it has been suggested that a whole host of clubs are interested in signing him, the aforementioned report insists that there have been no movements in the market thus far.

Teams in La Liga are indeed interested, and the Brazilian will soon meet the club officials and sort out his future.

As things stand, it appears extremely unlikely that Roque will be at Barcelona next season.
