Xavi’s controversial decision ruined his relationship with Barcelona forward – report

The recent reports from AS have revealed a troubling conclusion to the relationship between Robert Lewandowski and former Barcelona manager Xavi, as it appears that the latter intended to part ways with the forward before his own departure from the club. 

It must be noted that despite being 36 years old, Lewandowski has demonstrated his exceptional ability to remain Barcelona’s main source of goals, particularly at a time when doubts about his future arose. 

These concerns were especially pronounced towards the end of last season when Xavi expressed a desire to see Lewandowski leave, believing he was no longer fit to be the leading player on a championship team.

Xavi allegedly communicated to club president Joan Laporta that he felt Lewandowski had reached a point in his career where he could not maintain the physical and footballing standards required for such a crucial role. 

This disagreement has led to a strained relationship between the coach and the star striker, culminating in a bitter parting of ways. However, the twists and turns of football often surprise us.

Lewandowski is now on fire

This season has begun with Lewandowski impressively defying expectations. Not only has he continued to find the back of the net consistently, but he has also embraced a more dynamic role within the team. 

He has adapted to tactical shifts and is now contributing to defensive efforts as well. In attack, he frequently drops into deeper positions, allowing others to exploit space and join the offensive play. 

Moreover, his influence within the dressing room has noticeably increased. His leadership qualities and experience have made a positive impact on his teammates. 

The change in managerial approach and tactical strategy has evidently breathed new life into his career at Barcelona, making it clear that he remains an integral part of the club’s ambitions moving forward.
