For a few hours, Xavi has been announced as leaving FC Barcelona. While he had finally agreed with his management to stay next season, his latest statements on the economic difficulties of the Blaugranas went down quite well. Laporta is furious and will ask the board of directors to leave.

However, the dismissal of the coach who still has one year of contract remaining would be costly for a club which does not need that. Marca mentions the sum of €15 million in compensation just for Xavi, to which an additional €5 million would have to be added to get rid of the technical staff. A huge and global check for €20 million which raises questions.
