As Barcelona start preparing for the season ahead, the club are anticipating a summer of change. For a start, there could be significant changes in the squad, including the departures of multiple first-team stars.
However, in addition to changes in the first team, Barcelona could be set for a makeover even in Xavi’s technical setup.
What are these changes?
While official announcements are still pending, Diario AS reports two key additions that could take place in Xavi’s technical team this coming summer.
As has already been reported, Julio Tous could join the fold as a physical trainer, working alongside the existing Ivan Torres. This move aims to address concerns about training quality, particularly in the season’s early stages.
Furthermore, renowned recovery specialist Raul Martínez will reinforce the physiotherapy and recovery department, an area scrutinized due to recurring player injuries, most notably Pedri’s struggles.
By reinforcing these two areas, Barcelona are aiming to minimise injury-related woes, which could be key if Barça are to challenge for titles next season.
Barcelona on the lookout for a new scout
These might not be the only changes. As per the report, the Sporting Commission is exploring the possibility of adding a dedicated scout analyst.
While David Prats, Toni Lobo, and Sergio Garcia have been performing admirably, a supervisor for their reports and video analyses is being considered. Ideally, this new member would be a former player.
This influx of fresh faces marks a shift from Xavi’s initial approach.
Previously, he surrounded himself with trusted individuals from his Al Sadd days, with only goalkeeping coach José Ramón de la Fuente present before Xavi’s arrival.
