It is widely known that despite Xavi’s desire to part ways with Barcelona, the leadership of Joan Laporta is keen on retaining the 44-year-old’s services.

The primary reason for Barcelona’s reluctance to let go of Xavi lies in the scarcity of viable alternatives in the managerial market.

Additionally, the financial constraints Barcelona face mean that even if a replacement were to be found, operating within a limited budget would pose significant challenges.

Regardless of Xavi’s familiarity with the club’s workings, he remains firm in his decision to leave, showing little inclination to reconsider his stance.

Nonetheless, there is speculation from Mundo Deportivo suggesting that he might reconsider his departure if certain conditions are met by the club

This hints at the possibility of a shift in his stance if his demands are addressed adequately.

What are Xavi’s demands?

Xavi’s stance remains firm: he will reconsider only if the team triumphs in either the UEFA Champions League or the league, or at the very least, contend fiercely for both titles until the end.

Under these circumstances, he might entertain the idea of changing his position, although even after that, certain conditions must still be fulfilled, primarily concerning the financial ability to reinforce the team.

For what it is worth, Xavi is determined not to endure another summer like the last one, where plans were dashed due to financial constraints related to Financial Fair Play.

Without assurances of sufficient funds to assemble a strong team, there is simply no viable choice, regardless of how the season concludes.

Xavi wants top signings

In order for him to stay on board, Barcelona must ensure the availability of funds to secure key players.

For instance, they will need a midfielder like Martin Zubimendi or a talent of Joshua Kimmich’s calibre, whom he expressed interest in last summer.

This year, Kimmich seems more attainable, as he is nearing the end of his contract with doubts about his future at Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva, another target for Xavi, recently extended his contract with City until 2026 but included a ‘pro Barça’ exit clause worth £50 million

However, signing these players requires financial resources without compromising the strength of the current squad through sales, something that the team hasn’t figured out how.
