Yasmin McDonald Joins CAA As Books Agent

Yasmin McDonald has joined Creative Artists Agency as an Agent in the Books department after more than 11 years at the UK’s United Agents, where she was a Partner and led the Book to Screen department.

Based in CAA‘s London office, she will focus on identifying books and other literary IP suitable for adaptation to screen and stage both from within the agency’s Books department, and from external sources across the UK and Europe. Boasting a roster of esteemed authors, illustrators, screenwriters and directors, clients coming with her include Paul Murray (The Bee Sting); John O’Farrell, co-writer of Chicken Run 2: Dawn Of The Nugget; JP Delaney (The New Wife); Tom Gauld, graphic novelist and cartoonist for The New Yorker, The Guardian, New Scientist; and Lisa Mulcahy (The Tourist, Lies We Tell), among others.

In her 18-year career, McDonald has contributed to such successful adaptations as the BAFTA and Emmy-winning series A Very English Scandal, starring Hugh Grant and Ben Whishaw, for the BBC/Amazon; The Dig, starring Carey Mulligan and Ralph Fiennes, for Netflix; Earwig, which screened at the 2021 Toronto Film Festival and San Sebastian Film Festival; Love, Death + Robots for Netflix; The Girl Before, starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw and David Oyelowo, for the BBC/Max; That Christmas, an upcoming animated Christmas family film produced by Locksmith Animation, and distributed by Netflix; and a Mrs. Doubtfire stage musical, currently running on London’s West End and touring in the U.S.

Prior to United Agents, McDonald served as an Agent at AP Watt Ltd.

Over the course of the past year, CAA’s Books department has sold the motion picture or television rights to more than 350 book titles, with over 50 currently in production or recently released. Notable examples include Killers of the Flower Moon, Leave the World Behind, American Fiction, Dumb Money, All the Light We Cannot See, The Morning ShowThe Watcher, The Summer I Turned Pretty, Maid, and Where the Crawdads Sing.
