SPOILERS: This post contains details about the Yellowjackets, Season 3 episode ’12 Angry Girls and 1 Drunk Travis’
No survivor is safe this season on Yellowjackets, not even the OG Antler Queen herself.
Ahead of this week’s episode of the hit Showtime series, Simone Kessell opened up to Deadline about the “terrible” conclusion to Lottie’s arc and bidding farewell to the character in ’12 Angry Girls and 1 Drunk Travis’.
“It was horrible. Also the filming of it, we filmed in this dirty, gross dungeon,” she recalled. “I had to lie on the floor, and it was horrible. And lighting guys were like, ‘oops, sorry,’ stepping over me, and I’m like, ‘It’s fine, it’s fine, could you get off my hair?’ It was just like such an unglamorous way for Lottie to go, and I got a little emotional I just lying on the floor.”
Kessell continued, “But I was just saying that you put so much paint on your canvas as an actor, especially with such a colorful character such as Lottie. So, when you know it’s no longer gonna be hanging up, it’s kind of heartbreaking.”
The final moments of the episode see Misty (Christina Ricci) log into the citizen detective message boards to find a surveillance photo of Lottie’s corpse.
Kessell notes that Misty “a bit of a citizen detective, or more so,” in response to Lottie’s death, promising the mystery will be “revealed” by the season finale. “So, you’re taken on a journey with that,” she said.
Meanwhile, Courtney Eaton is still struggling to accept Lottie’s fate while playing the character’s teen counterpart in the ’90s wilderness.
“I mean, I’m obsessed with Simone. She’s incredible,” Eaton told Deadline at the Season 3 premiere last month. “I don’t think it’s fully set in yet. I also think with this show, people die, and then they come back and haunt you, so it’s not really a goodbye. So, that’s what I’m holding onto. I don’t think I’ve let myself think past that, but we’ll see.”
This week’s episode of Yellowjackets is now available to stream on Paramount+ with Showtime, before airing Sunday at 8pm ET on Showtime.
