EXCLUSIVE: There will be a change in the credits for the upcoming third season of Yellowjackets. Sarah Desjardins, who has recurred on the series since Season 1 as Shauna’s (Melanie Lynskey) daughter Callie, will be seen in an expanded role following a promotion to series regular. Desjardin was quietly elevated before production began on Season 3.
Desjardins’ Callie has a strained relationship with her mother Shauna, in particular, and Shauna’s husband Jeff.
Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, Yellowjackets is the saga of a team of talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.
Delayed by the strikes, the 10-episode third season of Yellowjackets, which also features Joel McHale as a guest star, picks up in the aftermath of the dramatic Season 2 finale.
In addition to Emmy nominee Lynskey and Desjardins, returning Season 3 cast includes Emmy nominee Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Emmy nominee Lauren Ambrose, Sophie Nélisse , Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Steven Krueger, Warren Kole, Kevin Alves and Simone Kessell as well as recurring player Elijah Wood.
Yellowjackets is executive produced by Lyle, Nickerson and fellow showrunner Jonathan Lisco. Drew Comins of Creative Engine also serves as executive producer along with Jeff Byrd, Sarah L. Thompson, Ameni Rozsa and Brad Van Arragon. Produced by Lionsgate Television, Yellowjackets premiered in 2021 and has received 10 Emmy Award nominations over its first two seasons, including two Outstanding Drama Series noms.
Yellowjackets season 3 premieres on February 14, 2025.
Desjardins also will be seen in the upcoming Disney feature Tron: Ares alongside Jared Leto and Greta Lee. She starred in Netflix’s The Night Agent. In the series, she was nominated for an HCA Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Streaming Drama Series for her portrayal of Maddie Redfield, the Vice President’s daughter who gets caught in the crossfire of her father’s bad behavior. Other credits include Riverdale, Under the Banner of Heaven and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Desjardins is repped by Mosaic, Play Management and Paradigm.
