Nigerian singers Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo better known as KCee and his colleague Chinedu Okoli popularly known as Flavour are at loggerheads over a shady post the latter recently made.
Trouble started after Flavour via his official X page threw a shade at his colleague calling him a copycat, shortly after KCee announced the release of his new track ‘Netfliss’ and shared snippets of the music video.
Some social media users seemed to think there is a similarity between the newly released track and Flavour’s hit track featuring Phyno, Doings.
Although Flavour did not mention any names in the posted tweet, KCee who felt the post was a shade to him, equally took to his X page to fire shots few days after Flavour’s post.
Kcee in a series of post via his page, made it clear that Flavour is not a custodian and should stop gatekeeping igbo culture.
He added that he will continue to celebrate igbo culture unpologetically, advising the ‘Ashewo’ crooner to spend his energy on success, as they not on the same level.
He further admonished his colleague to pick his battles well, stressing that he will continue to make music that celebrates his heritage.
He wrote, “Flavour needs to stop gatekeeping the Igbo culture because he is not its custodian. He went on to say that he was in the game before his colleague, and he won’t apologise for making music that celebrates his heritage.
“People record authenticity. I’ll continue celebrating our culture unapologetically. Spend your energy on success, not diminishing mine”, he further tweeted.
