Adiba Hayah, a Muslim woman on TikTok, has criticized Nollywood actress Nancy Isime for allegedly appropriating Niqob for a planned film project.

Nancy had advertised her next assignment on her Instagram profile two days prior. The gifted actress was seen wielding a gun and donning a niqab in some of the pictures she shared on social media. In another picture, she was seen with her actors, one of them was dressed in a hijab for a robbery scene.

Not pleased with it, a Muslim lady via her TikTok page lashed out at the actress for disrespecting her, her religion and everything that she represents.

She told the movie star that Niqob isn’t a costume and shouldn’t be used to promote despicable things in society. She noted how Muslims are going through a lot in society with hardship and tribal problems, and they don’t need religious war to be added to it.

She made Nancy know that Niqob isn’t clothing but a lifetime of religious books, representing the character and embodiment of righteous women. She expressed how sick and tired she was of people who do not share the same values as them, use their outfits for their selfish interest in a despicable way. She stated that Nancy and Co had chosen to defame, diminish and belittle the entire character of Muslim women all over the world as she questioned when this would stop.

I guess there is a new movie coming out; either it is produced by Nancy or her team, or she is featured in the movie. I am sorry if I didn’t pronounce your name well; I don’t mean to be disrespectful. However, you’ve disrespected me, my religion and everything that I represent.

Niqob is not a costume; you do not use it to represent things that are unspeakable in society. There are other things you could use, but you chose to use the niqab. Before you come under this comment section to start throwing tantrums and telling me how it is no business of mine to make a review about this, you should see this. My issue with the use of hijab and niqab in what looks like a robbery scene that makes no sense. Hijab is not a costume; it shouldn’t be used for such. We are going through a lot already in Nigeria; there is too much hardship, and there are too many tribal problems in Nigeria. Why would you want to introduce religious war? Why can’t you maintain boundaries instead of consistently trying to disrespect people’s faith just because you want to promote what brings food to your table? There are many alternative face covering that could be used in this scene instead of the niqab and the hijab. This is not another costume or fashion attire; it is an identity, a symbol of modesty, and a representation of somebody’s faith. The niqab is not just clothing; it is a lifetime of religious commitment, representing character and an embodiment of a righteous woman.

I am sick and tired of constantly seeing people who do not share the same values as we do use this outfit for their selfish interest in a despicable way for their selfish interest to promote immorality and a bad image for Muslims and those who adorn themselves with it.

You people have chosen to defame, diminish and belittle the entire character of Muslim women all over the world for a costume that can be improvised. When is this going to stop?”.
