Barcelona have enjoyed a stellar start to the new season, with the Catalan outfit racking up four wins in their first four matches in the league.
It appears the team is gelling well under the leadership of Hansi Flick, who has expertly utilised his limited options.
Despite facing multiple injury woes and sanctioning several departures, Barça are looking like the team to beat this season.
Part of Barcelona’s early success should be attributed to the club’s famed La Masia youth academy, which has produced a series of talents, who are now almost a regular in the first-team.
The likes of Lamine Yamal, Alejandro Balde, Fermin Lopez, Marc Bernal and Pau Cubarsi are key members of the first team.

As a matter of fact, Barcelona have the lowest average age in La Liga this season, with an average age of just 24.1.
This is significantly lower than the second youngest team in La Liga in Real Sociedad, which has an average age of 25.

Barcelona’s arch-rivals Real Madrid, despite the signing of Kylian Mbappe and Endrick, have an average of 26.5.
Barcelona’s young team is another indicator of the kind of transition the club are going through.
Young players such as Cubarsi, Gavi, Pedri, Yamal and Bernal currently form the bedrock of the team, as opposed to experienced stars of the past.
In fact, Barcelona have trimmed down their average age significantly this summer by sanctioning the sale of Ilkay Gundogan, Oriol Romeu and other older players while also opting not to extend the contract of former captain Sergi Roberto.
It has worked out well for the club so far this season. But it will be interesting to see whether or not this young Barcelona team can sustain the rigours of a long season ahead.
