Young Newcastle United stars beat Liverpool 3-2 on Merseyside – Great to see

A morale boosting victory over Liverpool for the young Newcastle United stars.

Having started the season with a draw and four defeats, the Newcastle United Under 18s needing a lift.

Great to see, as they went to Merseyside and got that first win of the season on Saturday, against Liverpool on their own patch.

Newcastle United taking the lead just after the half hour mark, Kacey Wooster’s shot saved by the Liverpool goalkeeper but Ethan Ndiweni netting the rebound.

A similar goal though for the equaliser just seven minutes later, this time with Newcastle United keeper Will Anderson saving from Bradshaw and Ahmed following up to score.

A few minutes into the second-half and Liverpool with the opportunity to completely turn the game around, however, after winning the penalty himself, Bradshaw missing the target.

Newcastle United’s young stars instantly punished the home side,  with Ndiweni putting United ahead once again with his second goal.

Shortly before the hour mark that became a 3-1 away lead, as Joe Brayson showed Liverpool how to take a penalty.

The game was back in the balance only five minutes later though, when Ahmed got his second for Liverpool.

However, despite late pressure from the scousers, it was the Newcastle United Under 18s who held out for a very important win, to get their season properly started.
