Spider-Man may answer to a higher authority, but unfortunately for Peter Parker, the high school student is still governed by the ringing of hallway bells.
In Marvel‘s newly unveiled trailer (above) for its animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Parker casts his web between high school and fighting crime; though he has a spotless record on doing good, his attendance record would like to have a word.
The sleek animation style, in tribute to the famed New York hero’s early comic book roots, follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming Spider-Man in the MCU. In this alternate timeline, as the clip previews, the webslinger’s origin story features a mentorship by Norman Osborn (of Oscorp fame), the alter ego to bitter enemy Green Goblin, instead of Tony Stark.
The 10-episode series, which swings onto Disney+ Jan. 29, includes a voice cast comprising Hudson Thames, Colman Domingo, Eugene Byrd, Grace Song, Zeno Robinson, Hugh Dancy and Charlie Cox. The head writer is Jeff Trammell and Mel Zwyer is the supervising director. Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt and Trammell serve as executive producers.
The new trailer comes amid MCU’s continued unfurling of Phase Five, which includes forthcoming film Thunderbolts and series Daredevil: Born Again, as well as previously debuted Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Marvels and Deadpool & Wolverine. The phase also includes the shows Secret Invasion, Season 2 of Loki, Season 2 of What If…?, Echo, Agatha All Along, as well as yet-to-be-released Eyes of Wakanda, Captain America: Brave New World and Ironheart.
