Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has taken to social media to address reports linking him to fast-rising actor and producer, Prince Herny Ode, who was killed during a shootout with police in Lagos over his involvement in the kidnapping.

TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) reports that Henry was allegedly amongst the notorious gang of kidnappers that engaged the Lagos State Police and killed during the shootout on Friday, July 5th.

Shortly after the command’s Special Squad One Team confirmed the reports, a photo of Yul Edochie with the deceased producer circulated on social media, as many alleged the duo were friends.

Speaking via his verified Instagram page, Yul refuted the claims, saying he did not know Herny and had only met him once on a movie set.

He said, “I want to address a rumour that has been flying around for a couple of days now about the Nollywood producer that was shot dead by the police a few days ago; according to the police, the guy is a kidnapper. Some bloggers saw my picture with him and said he was my friend. I want to state categorically that the guy wasn’t my friend. In all my time in Nollywood, which is 19 going to 20 years, I only saw this guy once, when I shot a movie for him.”

Yul further narrated how the deceased producer walked up to him, introduced himself and requested a picture, which he granted.

He said, “A few weeks ago, a director contacted me for a movie; when i came into the set, I met this guy, who called himself Ason Rich. He came to me and introduced himself as Ason Rich Production. We shot the movie. After the movie, he came to me and said he was excited about the opportunity to work with me. He also played a role in the film and asked if he could take a picture with me, and i said, OK. We took the photo and i left and moved to the next set. I never saw him after that. He was never my friend.”

The controversial actor then issued a stern warning to netizens and bloggers spreading false narratives.

“I don’t know why you people are circulating my picture. Whoever you are that is spreading the lies, I hope you can defend it in court. You don’t have to put my picture with him,” he stated
