Zamfara House Of Assembly Commences Review Of 14 LGs’ Accounts

The Zamfara State House of Assembly has commenced a review of the 2023 Report concerning the accounts of the 14 Local Government Councils submitted to them by the State Auditor General, Naija News reports.

The Report was discussed during the plenary session held on Wednesday.

The motion to engage in the debate regarding the Report was introduced by the House Majority Leader, Hon. Bello Muhammad Mazawaje Tsafe, and was supported by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Adamu Aliyu Gummi.

Mazawaje emphasized the significance of the Auditor General’s Financial Report on the Local Government Councils, stating that it is essential for the State lawmakers to review it and take appropriate actions.

Two legislators, Hon. Rilwanu Marafa Nagambo from Anka and Hon. Mikailu Aliyu Dangulbi from Maru South constituencies, underscored the necessity of thoroughly examining the Report to ensure its integrity and precision prior to granting approval.

The lawmakers proposed that the House Public Accounts Committee be tasked with conducting a comprehensive analysis of the Report to uphold acceptable standards.

Following an in-depth discussion, the Speaker of the House, Hon. Bilyaminu Ismail Moriki, instructed the Public Accounts Committee to evaluate the Auditor General’s Report and return with recommendations for necessary measures.

In a separate matter, the House has urged all pertinent authorities to submit detailed statements of account along with all documentation concerning pension payments within the state to the appropriate committees.

This initiative was introduced by Hon. Rilwanu Marafa Nagambo Anka and received backing from Hon. Halliru Abdullahi Kuturu and Nura Dahiru Sabon Birini, who represent the Zurmi East and Birnin Magaji constituencies, respectively.
