Zayda Steel was no match for B3CCA.
Steel competed against the self-proclaimed celebrity fighter/artist at Thursday’s Wrestling Open “Game Time” event. B3CCA not only walked away with the win (and squashed her beef with Big Daddy Marc), but also left Steel with an unfortunate parting gift courtesy of a headbutt.
Steel showed off a circular-shaped bruise/lump on her forehead on Twitter. The photo was accompanied by the caption, “I’m convinced @b3cca4ever has a damn brick for a head !!!!!!”
B3CCA apparently didn’t walk away unscathed either, as she later said that she had a cracked tooth as a result. Despite the injuries, she’s looking forward to round 2 with Steel.
Zayda Steel gets WWE ID’d
Zayda Steel, Bryce Donovan & Cappuccino Jones were the first three wrestlers confirmed as being part of the new WWE ID program.
Last month, WWE launched its ID program. The new developmental program will aid independent wrestling schools and talent in finding potential WWE Superstars. The program will support prospects and ID-designated schools with “world-class training, development and mentorship.”
Recently, Steel has drawn attention for her work in MLW and Marigold, the new promotion from STARDOM co-founder Rossy Ogawa.
Be In The Moment
Steel spoke with WrestleZone’s Ella Jay about the key character advice she received from former TNA Knockout Gisele Shaw.
“Three weeks ago, I was freaking out over a match to one of my mentors, and I was just like, ‘I don’t even know who I am out there.’ [I] just had a whole breakdown, and he’s like, ‘All right.’ Hung up on me. He calls me an hour later, he’s like, ‘Hey, are you like good to FaceTime?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, what’s up?’ Gisele Shaw was on the phone and I was like, ‘Hi.’ Then she just sat on the phone and just gave me so much advice,” Steel said. “It was a whole thing. I love her so much. She followed me that night and [said], ‘Send me your matches. I’ll make sure you’re good.’”
Steel noted that Shaw emphasized the importance of finding the balance between her roles as babyface and heel.
“She was basically telling me, ‘Look, have fun. Yeah, you can stress — [it shows that] you care.’ She was just like ‘have fun.’ I was telling her about the crowd reaction, because I was like, ‘I’m working baby[face], but it’s just not fun. I don’t know who I am out there.’ She was like, ‘Look, sometimes it’s going to suck. Sometimes you’re going to have to pause, not start the match until the audience starts. Look at them, baby or heel. You really don’t have to switch up what you do.’”
“[It was] just sort of talking your sh*t to the crowd, talk sh*t to your opponent. It’s still doing the same thing. She was giving me just more-so character advice and just telling me, ‘Have fun, be in the moment. Don’t stress about it. You mess up, you’re not even a year in. You’re good.’”
