Zinedine Zidane is cited as a potential replacement for Erik ten Hag at Manchester United. In the event of arrival, Zidane would like to bring Jules Koundé from FC Barcelona in the next winter transfer window.

As Manchester United struggles at the start of the season, speculation surrounding the departure of Erik ten Hag is intensifying. Among the names mentioned to succeed him, that of Zinedine Zidane comes up insistently. If the former Real Madrid coach and 1998 world champion takes charge at Old Trafford, he would already have a first requirement: recruit Jules Koundé, the central defender of FC Barcelona.

Koundé, priority for Zidane in case of signing

According to El NacionalZidane would have identified Jules Koundé as an essential recruit to stabilize the Red Devils defense. Currently pillar of Barça and indisputable starter under the orders of Hansi Flick, Koundé is under contract until 2027 and valued at around 55 million euros. Although Barcelona are not inclined to part ways with their defender, the Catalan club’s financial difficulties could push them to accept a significant offer.

Zidane, who remains without a position since leaving Real Madrid in 2021, could benefit from financial support from new shareholder Ineos to convince Koundé to join England. However, despite these persistent rumors, Erik ten Hag is still in office, and Zidane has never given a clear signal regarding an adventure in the Premier League.
