Zinédine Zidane is not known for being a “good customer” in interviews. Besides, the 1998 Ballon d’Or hardly gives any. Daniel Riolo would like to remedy this.
During his career as a sports journalist, which began in the late 1990s, Daniel Riolo had the opportunity to interview many of the major players in football. In particular in “L’After Foot”, a show that he co-hosts with his faithful sidekick Gilbert Brisbois since 2006 on RMC.
However, the editorialist would like to speak on air with an important personality in French football: the president of the LFP Vincent Labrune. “Let him come and defend his record and tell us why he thinks he worked well. Basically, see if he is able to face journalists who ask him real questions and not journalists who wax his pomp as usual,” he confided during an interview given to the website of 7 Days TV.
Zidane, a legend of few words
Concerning the legends of French football, Daniel Riolo also has a very precise idea of the interlocutor he would dream of confronting. “I had the chance to talk off-air with my teenage idol, who is Michel Platini. I would prefer to speak with someone who was not my idol but who was an extraordinary player, that is Zidane. In fact, he never talks about football, he never talks at all! However, I am convinced that he would have fabulous things to say”imagines Géraldine Maillet’s companion.
Zinédine Zidane has however already been interviewed on RMC. Almost ten years ago to the day, on the show “Luis Attaque”, hosted by Luis Fernandez. The 1998 Ballon d’Or was then coach of Real Madrid Castilla, the reserve team of the Merengue club.
